Nice capture Robert! I think it is a Cooper's Hawk. The white on the head through me off at first but I think it is something stuck there.

Thanks Doris! Except maybe for the head this one does not look like the photo of Coopers in my guide. And my guide says Coopers is crow-sized. This was a big bird, much larger than a crow. I think the white on it's head is a feather from one of it's meals! It "threw" me a bit too at first!
